PEOPLE OF THE
MAASAI |
| ABOUT THE ARTIST | |||
| Stacy Bayne is a rare and unique talent in the world of sculpting. The extraordinary Maasai collection reveals a passion and sensitivity for a tribal-people struggling against a hostile world. Stacy sculpts first with her heart and then with her hands. Born in 1962 in a small Nebraska town, Stacy comes from a close-knit family. Stacy grew up surrounded by her parents, two sisters, two brothers and her twin sister, Tracy. Like "two peas in a pod", Stacy's twin was and still remains, her closest friend. Stacy's adventurous spirit emerged at an early age and is something of a family trait. At 18 Stacy decided to travel. This decision was to take her to many countries and as far afield as Africa. It is this inherent nomadic spirit which draws Stacy indelibly to the Maasai. "My deep love and motivation for this project is born of the great empathy I feel for tribes and cultures around the world who have fought hard and strived to remain steadfast in their beliefs."
